Camster Stone Row

    Wick, Highland

Large image (675x900 - 189k)
The top of a stone can be seen about one quarter the way up the picture, dead centre. The row continues into the distance with the very tops of several more stones visible with careful hunting.

A second row. A relatively large(!) part of one stone is visible at the bottom left of the image. Thin white stakes can be seen protruding through the heather into the distance. These mark the locations of other stones in this row.

Looking in the opposite direction from one of the staked stones. The first stone can be seen approximately midway between the last stake and the distant fence post.

Just a few hundred yards from the Grey Cairns of Camster are a series of stone rows. CANMORE reports that there are actually six rows here, but the increasing depth of peat is slowly burying them. I found just two rows. Although the stones are up to a metre tall, no more than a few centimetres are now visible.
