About Ancient Scotland

Martin McCarthy has been taking photographs of Scotland - particularly ancient sites - since 1993. The Ancient Scotland website has been a labour of love since 1995 and now Martin contains details on hundreds of ancient places illustrated with thousands of his own photographs.

His pictures have been used in books, on CD covers, in University literature and in advertising materials, as well as being exhibited around Glasgow.

Martin is an exclusive photographer for iStock. When not out taking photographs or developing and printing in the darkroom, Martin has his own computer consultancy business and is the author of several technical journal articles and computing books.

He lives in Glasgow, Scotland.
