The two tallest stones, looking south from inside the circle. A pair of fallen stones can be seen - one in the bottom right of the picture and another between that and the standing stone on the right. You may just be able to make out a third fallen stone in the grass between the two standing stones.

This small circle of nine stones (there's a clue in the name!) stands in a forest clearing a little distance south of Hawick.

Burl describes the approach to the circle as:

Walk. 1 mile. Very steep, almost precipitous first 220 yards.

This might be a little off-putting! In reality it is a half-mile walk from the road and very steep for maybe 20 yards. Not nearly so bad as expected.

Although quite overgrown, this is an attractive circle. Most of the stones are very low and hidden by the grass, with two stones standing proud at a little over 4 feet and a little under 6 feet tall.
