This timber-laced fort consists of a ruined inner wall some 35 feet thick enclosing an area 200 feet by 120 feet. Outside this wall is a second wall up to 50 feet thick and twelve feet high. There are two more ramparts further out to the north and west of the fort.

2/5 Looking north-east along the ditch; the fort is to the left, the south rampart to the right.
3/5 Looking into the fort itself to the east (the interior is filled with the dark bracken). Centre-left is a pile of stones: this is one of many much more recent shelters built for livestock.
4/5 Looking down to the west of the fort, a circular well/pond can be clearly seen in the centre of the picture. This is outside the main fort but within a secondary rampart.
5/5 Looking west along the fort wall -- the fort interior is to the right and the deep ditch to the left.
