Shawbost Mill
Stornoway, Isle of Lewis
Norse Iron-Age Horizontal Mill Canmore
Also known as Siabost

Although reconstructed now, this Iron Age Norse corn mill was actually still in use right up until the 1930s. It was the last to be used on Lewis.

Corn mills of this Viking or Iron Age design were once common around Lewis - hundreds were in opperation in the 1800s to grind barley and wheat into meal.
